Researchers at Waseda University built mkcheck2, an eBPF-based tracer that cuts build dependency error detection overhead by up to 99.7 percent versus ptrace. Across 300 Make projects, mean analysis time per commit fell from 1,267 seconds to 23.56 seconds, making continuous verification practical. The Linux-specific tool was presented at ICSE 2026.
