Tiger Data releases pgvectorsearch, an open source PostgreSQL extension for vector similarity search currently in alpha. The PRISM index builds in 1 hour and 40 minutes on 128 GB memory versus 42 hours for HNSW on 512 GB. It supports PostgreSQL 18 and vectors up to 1968 dimensions while reducing infrastructure needs.
