ETH Zurich's bidirectional pixel could turn screens into cameras

Researchers at ETH Zurich have built the first bidirectional pixel that can both emit and measure light. Led by professor David Norris, the team published the work in Nature. The technique uses Fourier analysis to control amplitude, phase, and polarization on a single pixel, enabling two-way screens and holographic displays.
