An OpenAI engineer, Abdulrahman Alfozan, allegedly used an AI chatbot to help plant a Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 Sense recording device in a San Francisco executive conference room on or about September 28, 2026. OpenAI discovered the bug on September 30 during a countersurveillance sweep and notified the FBI.
