South Korea's PIPC fined KT Corporation $39 million for an 11-month data breach exposing 16,647 subscribers. Attackers exploited a lost femtocell with a valid certificate to intercept cellular traffic and commit fraudulent micropayments. KT also failed to report a separate BPFDoor malware infection.
