Researchers Build Sailboat Drone Prototype

Seven engineers at Singapore university SUTD built the 1.107 kg ALBATROSS drone prototype. It deploys from an aircraft without powered flight hardware, rotating to slow its fall before converting into a wind-propelled vessel. The team claims an operating range above 100 km, substantially exceeding the approximately 7km range reported for SailMAV.
