Anthropic shipped Claude Code version 2.1.198 on July 1, 2026 with an efficiency bypass that auto-continues agent tasks after 60 seconds of inactivity. The feature was undocumented in the changelog. A fix shipped two days later in version 2.1.199. The timeout applies only to AskUserQuestion, not permission prompts.
