Former Microsoft engineer Dave Plummer rebuilt Notepad from scratch as TinyRetroPad, a 2.5 kilobyte assembly app using WinAPI components. The editor strips Copilot suggestions and telemetry, restoring the plain-text focus of Windows XP-era Notepad with Open, Save, font selection, and printing.
