The UK committed £708 million to develop technologies for the Royal Air Force's Tempest next-gen fighter. The funding extends a BAE Systems contract for the Future Combat Air System under the Global Combat Air Programme with Italy and Japan. A £20 million hypersonic target contract and a BAE 'loyal wingman' drone prototype were also announced.
