Karnataka sets up social media response framework

Karnataka will create dedicated contact points and rapid response channels between social media platforms and its Information Disorder Tackling Unit (IDTU), jointly led by the IT and Home Departments. The framework targets misinformation, fake news, and hate speech affecting governance and public safety. The IDTU previously operated for 90 days during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, scanning 64,000 articles daily and completing 537 fact-checks.
