The FDA approved Edwards' Autus Size-Adjustable Valve, the first artificial pulmonary valve that can be expanded inside a child's body using a balloon catheter. It grows from 13mm to 22mm, eliminating repeated surgeries for the roughly 4,200 US babies born yearly with pulmonary stenosis or atresia. It is also the first such valve with polymeric flaps.
