A former Moroccan intelligence officer revealed the DGST deployed NSO Group's Pegasus spyware starting in 2017 against journalists, human rights defenders, French politicians, and Spanish cabinet ministers. The spyware remotely accessed targets' phones, activating cameras and microphones. Over 200 Spanish mobile numbers were targeted, including Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's phone.
