Automakers Ditch CarPlay for Control

General Motors is removing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from its new electric vehicles, planning a complete phase-out by 2028. The company is replacing the phone-mirroring system with its own Android Automotive-based infotainment platform. GM argues this provides deeper vehicle integration, like using car data for navigation, but it also gives the manufacturer greater control over user data and services.
