A script-based approach called Code Mode reduced token usage from 815,000 to 6,450 per task, a 99.2% cost reduction. The script runs 26 API calls inside a sandboxed subprocess, returning only one summary object to the agent. Cloudflare shipped the same idea in September under the name Code Mode.
