New Tools Cut AI Training Energy by 50%

University of Michigan researchers developed coordinated software tools that could reduce AI training energy use by up to 50%. The team is now working with NVIDIA to integrate Perseus and Kareus into Megatron-LM. Perseus slows processors to save up to 30% energy, while Kareus optimizes scheduling for another 10% to 30% reduction.
