Johnson & Johnson surgical robot gets FDA approval

The FDA granted de novo approval to Johnson & Johnson's Ottava, the world's first table-integrated soft tissue robotic surgical system. Ottava is authorized for upper abdomen procedures including gastric bypasses and gastrectomies. Its four robotic arms occupy up to 50 percent less space than boom- and cart-mounted systems.
