Northeastern University researchers, with Consumer Reports, tested 21 late-model vehicles from 19 US brands and found every one sent data to a third-party domain; over half contacted advertising, tracking or analytics firms. Seven companion apps, including HondaLink and MyNissan, leaked VINs, phone numbers and precise locations to ad networks. Honda asked Amplitude to delete location data and updated its app.
