NPCI Proposes 0.4% UPI Merchant Fee

NPCI CEO Dilip Asbe said a proposed 0.4% merchant discount rate on UPI could recover Rs 13,000-15,000 crore in year one, covering most of the system's Rs 21,000-crore annual cost. About 96% of transaction volumes stay free, with 80% of the fee pool from merchants already paying card charges.
