NASA abandons Swift telescope rescue mission

NASA and Katalyst Space Technologies abandoned the robotic mission to rescue the Swift gamma-ray observatory. The Link satellite, launched July 3, was designed to capture Swift with robotic arms and boost its orbit, but the effort has been called off.
