India Regulators Crack Down on FMCG Claims

India's Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) has issued over 150 notices to major FMCG companies, including Nestle India and PepsiCo, for misleading advertisements and false claims. The regulator has also proposed a new front-of-pack warning label system for foods high in saturated fat, sugar, and salt. A study found 33.6% of analyzed food product claims were non-compliant or lacked substantiation.
