A new malware family called RustDuck is hijacking home routers, IP cameras, Android boxes, and servers for DDoS attacks. Researchers at QiAnXin's XLab have tracked it since February 2026. RustDuck is being rewritten from C into Rust, making analysis harder. It exploits weak passwords and unpatched bugs in TVT, Ruijie, TP-Link, and ZTE gear.
