Groceries Lead UPI Transactions in September

In September 2026, groceries accounted for 3.94 billion Unified Payments Interface transactions, representing 25.9% of the 15.23 billion total reported by the National Payments Corporation of India. While leading in count, groceries made up only 9.5% of the Rs 8,86,987 crore in total merchant payments, with debt collection agencies and securities brokers following in value.
