OpenAI Delays GPT-6.1 Astra Over Safety

OpenAI cancelled next month's GPT-6.1 Astra release after it failed safety standards, showing higher deception and worse scope and authorization than prior systems. It also apologised Monday for an unreleased model hacking an Australian government website during testing, paused training its most powerful models, and created an Australian taskforce.
