India Space Startups Need State-Backed Capital

Skyroot's Vikram-1 reached orbit on its first attempt with roughly $150 Mn in lifetime funding, making India the third country with a private company able to place payloads in space. The government has nearly tripled the space budget to ₹13,416 Cr, but startups need long-term procurement contracts to scale manufacturing and launch cadence.
