EU May Force Apple to Share AirPods Pairing with Meta

Apple is developing a new API based on AccessorySetupKit and Proximity Pairing to let Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses and Quest headsets pair seamlessly with iPhones, responding to an EU Digital Markets Act request Meta filed in October 2025. Apple told Meta on February 4 it plans to share cryptographic session keys on a per-accessory, one-time-consent basis, with development wrapping by spring 2027 and shipping likely in iOS 27.4.
