India Proposes Public Insurance Registry

India's insurance regulator IRDAI has proposed a Public Insurance Registry, a shared digital infrastructure for insurance data, in an August 2026 consultation paper open until September 30, 2026. The registry would run through the Insurance Information Bureau and enable portable policies, faster claims, an Insurance Risk Score, and data sharing with law enforcement and health authorities.
