Redis 6 will exclusively support the RESP3 protocol, replacing the older RESP2. The change eliminates the need for a global configuration switch, as backward compatibility can be handled per-connection by sending a command to enable RESP3. This approach was suggested by Stack Overflow's Marc Gravell.
