A team led by Professor Jörg J. Schneider at TU Darmstadt published research in Advanced Science describing a new catalyst made of iron, nickel, and carbon. This material allows zinc-air batteries to be charged and discharged up to 500 times, solving a major rechargeability issue. The study, titled Nickelferrite on Pnictogen Functionalized Carbon Nanohorns, was published in 2026.
