Apple is developing "Apple Reference Image," an iOS 27 beta feature that embeds provenance metadata into iPhone photos at capture to prove they aren't AI fakes. Off by default, it sends sensor signatures and hardware IDs to Apple's Private Cloud Compute for verification, similar to C2PA.
