Cops Bust Botnet of 1.3 Million Android Boxes

A coalition of security firms and Japan's National Police Agency disrupted a botnet of 1.3 million Android TV boxes across 200+ countries. Videostrong Technology intentionally embedded the XCPE backdoor in firmware, allowing operators to create proxy networks. TrendAI documented 3.8 million distinct IP addresses connected to the operation between June 3 and October 1.
