AI billing errors overcharged firms $1.7M, audit finds

Startup Vaudit audited $34 million in AI invoices sent to 60 companies between March and June and found roughly $1.7 million in overcharges, mostly from Anthropic's Claude Code. Common issues included billing for expensive models when cheaper ones were used and charges for failed agent retries.
