PlanetScale built git-replay to automate cherry-picking private changes onto open-source Vitess release branches. The tool stores conflict resolutions from previous cherry-picks and reuses them to resolve similar conflicts automatically. This replaced a manual process that required weekly GitHub Actions and painstaking code reviews by owners.
