Michael Biggins, known as PhonicUK, demonstrated mipmapping on the ESP32-S3 using his Jet rendering engine. He compressed textures to 8-bit indexing, fitting them in 5.01 MB, down from 40 MB on the N64. A video shows the camera moving through the scene, proving the microcontroller can rival 1990s consoles without a 3D GPU.
