Working to automate nuclear plant operations

Lauren Fortier, a doctoral student at MIT, develops remote operation protocols for autonomous control of nuclear plants. Her work uses finite state automata for transparent automation, not AI. The goal is to enable economical microreactors in remote areas that cannot support large staffs.
