MIT CSAIL researchers Daniël Trujillo and Mengjia Yan demonstrated an unprivileged Linux program can re-poison branch predictors after Spectre v2 mitigations run, leaking kernel memory on AMD Zen 2 at 5.47 bytes per second with 91.97% accuracy. AMD plans a kernel patch; Intel considers no mitigation necessary.
