Researchers demonstrated universal topological quantum gates by combining braiding and fusion of non-Abelian anyons on Quantinuum's H2 processor. A 54-qubit ground state of the quantum double of S3, the smallest non-Abelian group, was prepared. The team encoded logical information in the global fusion space and realized a universal gate set, including a topologically prepared magic state.
