Amana, an iOS app that displays the sky outside your window, abandoned a Himawari weather satellite pipeline for a physically-based procedural sky rendered on-device. The satellite data showed cloud tops and ground from orbit, which cannot capture the blue sky or sunset colors visible from the ground.
