Dave Eggers Avoids Smartphones and Internet

Author Dave Eggers, 56, does not own a smartphone and writes on a 1998 Mac that has never been connected to the internet. He bikes to a sailboat near the Golden Gate Bridge on writing days. Eggers recently texted an idea to himself, a process he said takes 20 minutes per sentence.
