Sony's PlayStation disc factory is already being repurposed

Sony invested thirty million euros to convert its Thalgau plant from producing discs to manufacturing optical microlenses. The facility previously made six hundred thousand discs daily, half serving PlayStation consoles before shifting focus entirely in 2028. Three hundred employees will retrain for new roles while the Indiana site now packages automotive headlights.
