Anthropic previews new standard to streamline AI-to-machine connections

Anthropic PBC previewed the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), developed with HHMI, to unify device APIs so AI agents can control scientific instruments like microscopes. QuEra Computing uses MHS with Claude to coordinate lasers. Anthropic plans an open-source release and is working with partners on safety features.
