NASA funds Firefly for Skyfall Mars aeroshell

NASA selected Firefly Aerospace to design and manufacture the aeroshell for the Skyfall Mars mission. The $13 million subcontract from JPL covers the heatshield and backshell. Skyfall, a nuclear-powered probe launching in 2028, will release three helicopters mid-descent to map water ice on Mars.
