AI skin tools miss darker skin tones

AI skin cancer detection tools are increasingly accurate for light skin but have a massive blind spot for darker skin. Researchers found accuracy dropped sharply when images were digitally darkened, as models use surrounding skin color as a clue rather than the lesion itself.
