Solana Tests Alpenglow to Cut Finality to 150ms

Solana's Alpenglow upgrade entered public testnet, aiming to cut transaction finality from about 13 seconds to 0.15 seconds. The change replaces TowerBFT with Votor, letting validators finalize blocks in one or two voting rounds. Exchanges, bridges and merchants could treat payments as irreversible almost immediately. Validators need Agave 4.3; Firedancer and Frankendancer are unsupported. A Sept. 28 mainnet update remains tentative.
