Apple Signs Photos at the Sensor

Apple published the design of Apple Reference Image, an opt-in camera mode on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max that signs pixel data at the sensor, moving provenance trust away from C2PA. Images carry a composite ML-DSA-87 and RSA-3072 signature, are processed in Private Cloud Compute, and are not available in the EU or China at launch.
