Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma stated the company aimed to make Pokemon Pokopia the best-selling Pokemon spin-off. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team currently hold that record at 5.85 million copies. Pokemon Pokopia sold over four million copies in its first five weeks.
