AT&T to Cut Jobs, Retire Copper Network

AT&T will keep cutting jobs as it automates with AI and retires its copper landline network. It shed 8,000 workers last year and 2,100 in the first half of 2026, with a reported target near 85,000 employees by 2030. AT&T expects to stop offering copper in over 85 percent of its footprint by year end.
