4 min read
Georgia Tech student Tomas Salvo unofficially broke the jet-powered drone speed record by flying his Reaper aircraft at 491 mph. Built in his dorm, the craft uses a 250N jet engine and carries a 1.2kg payload. Salvo aims to win the $800,000 Boom Prize, but must still reach Mach 1 within five seconds to qualify.
