UK Rejects AI Kill Switch Proposal

The UK government has rejected calls from MPs for a statutory AI emergency kill switch. The Cabinet Office stated it cannot simply turn AI off, as preventing access to a model in one location would not stop it from being developed and misused elsewhere. The government places responsibility on AI companies to build products with appropriate safeguards.
