Microsoft launches Scout, an OpenClaw-inspired personal assistant

Microsoft launched Scout in early 2026 as an always-on AI assistant built on the OpenClaw framework. Scout integrates into Microsoft 365 apps including Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams to help employees manage calendars, expense reports, and email drafts. Unlike Copilot, which operates within apps, Scout can see and act beyond app boundaries. Omar Shahine, Microsoft's corporate vice president, called Scout the first real personal assistant offered to customers. The assistant is designed to work persistently alongside users within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
