A recent paper by Ethan A. Crawford et al. details a low-cost, 3D-printed filtration mesh that removes up to 90% of microplastics from water. The prototype uses a multi-layer PLA system where polyethylene glycol spheres are etched away with hot 80°C water to create fine pores.
